我们都知道在中文里面，红色代表热情似火，蓝色代表冷酷忧郁，黑色则代表阴险恐怖。

1. red 红色

see red 变得愤怒、生气或烦躁

Example:

I see red whenever I hear that mans name.

我一听到那个人的名字心里便火冒三丈。

in the red 亏损，赤字

Example:

They had to sell the firm because for years they had operated it in the red.

因为这家公司几年来一直亏损，所以他们只好把它卖掉。

red-eye flight 红眼航班，夜间航班

2. orange 橙色

orange意思是橙子，柑橘，橙汁。作为颜色时是橙黄色，橘黄色。

4. green 绿色

（果实）未成熟的；青的；生的

Example:

（人）不成熟的；缺乏经验的；幼稚的

脸色发青的，有病容的

Example:

Are you alright? You look absolutely green.

你还好吗？ 脸上一点血色也没有。

5. blue 蓝色

忧郁的，悲伤的

Example:

Hed been feeling blue all week.

他整个星期都闷闷不乐。

（电影、玩笑或故事）色情的，黄色的

Example:

a blue movie 色情片

blue jokes 黄色笑话

blue-collar 蓝领阶级的，体力劳动者的

Example:

It wasnt just the blue-collar workers who lost their jobs, it was everyone.

不只是蓝领工人失去了工作，而是每一个人。

6. purple 紫色

Example:

His face was purple with rage.

他气得脸色发紫。

Example:

She was dressed in purple.

她穿一身紫色衣裳。
